2009 Scholarship Recipient O’Quinn and Counts Awarded Memorial Scholarship
Ryan O’Quinn, William Counts and Kennith Branham
Recent Haysi High School graduates, Ryan O’Quinn and William Counts were the 2009 recipients of the Haysi High School Class of '61 Memorial Scholarship. The two graduates split the scholarship this year and each received award certificates at the Haysi High School Awards Ceremony. The 2009 Haysi High School Awards Certificates were presented by Kennith Branham, a member of the Haysi High School Class of 1961, and grandfather of Mr. O’Quinn. Mr. O’Quinn, son of Randy and Karen O’Quinn of Clinchco, plans to attend University of VA – Wise this fall and major in Environmental Science. Mr. Counts is the son of Gay Counts and the late Ray Charles Counts of Haysi. He plans to attend Southwest Community College and major in History. The $520 scholarship was split between the two young men.
